OK, thanks. There is actually more info on that flag. When she won Sakura in Niigata, she was in 75bu.

That poster is quite old too so I am sure she grew larger than that. Just not sure how big.

The last couple of days have been pretty slow. I am limiting the number of breeders I am buying from until the new QT facility is done. Hosokai has a lot of varieties, and has over 100 mud ponds, but he only harvests one to two ponds a day and takes Sunday off. Tomorrow we leave for Hiroshima for four days and have appointments with Taniguchi, Matsue, Omosako and Takigawa. I will come back again to Ojiya after that and hope there are more fish available from Hosokai.

We did go to Marudo because I was told he had a lot of single color fish like Yamabuki and Karashigoi. The problem is that he only had Sansai and up. No Nisai.

When we went to the greenhouse that has these Koi I saw that there were some Asagi in there as well. This Sakame Asagi was the first one that caught my eye. Sakame Asagi has "reverse' scales with a lighter blue center to them.

Larry and I drove from Nagaoka to Fukuyama, which is about an hour from Hiroshima, and ended up at the hotel around 4:30pm. We got up early the next morning and drove out to see Matsue as we have Azukari Koi there and I wanted to see what else he might have available.

When we first arrived I was told that one of the two Kohaku that I purchased last year did not come out of the mud. This is a reminder that things do not always work out when Koi are left in Japan for Azukari. Most breeders do offer replacements but the choices are limited. This was the replacement for the one that was lost last year.

This is the one that did survive and she did well.

I did pick up a few Nisai Kohaku and, when taking pictures for these, they always sedate them so I don't get the same pictures as if they were swimming around. This first video shows two of them before they are sedated.
