Ok, I just put a new gasket on mine. The first couple of times the spray bar came on, no water came out. Once about 1/4 cup came out. Now it just drips maybe 20 drops of water.

How tight are the screws supposed to be when I put it back together? When I took it apart, the screws were not even hand tight.

When I lift the plate manually, it's fairly stiff/hard to pick up.

I am afraid I can't help. There are no screws that I know of and I am on a plane going to Japan. Your spray bar should work no matter what, even if the tray does not lift, so there could be something else wrong. I am thinking you have a water supply issue. Did you reconnect the water?

Yes, I reconnected the supply line.

There is a nut on top of the shaft that the gasket slides over and there's that "cap nut/screw" that holds the plate on. I said screw by mistake.

Have a great trip.

I think I found the problem. The side of the plate with the gasket that supposed to lift up to let the water drain seems like it's vapor locked. The waste-pipe is open. It's about a three-foot-long 2 inch piece of pipe with an open-end. There's no obstructions. As long as I leave the gasket on the plate slightly open to drain just a tiny bit of water constantly, it drains like it's supposed to when the spray bar comes on.

How do I fix this?

I don't know, I've never had that problem.

Another question. About how high is that plate supposed to lift?

Sandy, my plate lifts pretty much equally on both sides, maybe 1.5-2".

Looking at your pic, you may have reversed the rubber gasket. Also, I'm concerned you made the wider part of it too small. As I remember, the spring holds the wider section in place against the valve. The narrower end slides up and down when a cleaning cycle starts and finishes, respectively.

It's a shame this is happening when Russ is traveling and away.
Frankly, it's been a while since mine was done and I can't remember the orientation.

I don't understand what you mean by the narrower end slides up and down. Narrow end of what? When you say the wider part is too small, do you mean the part between the center hole I made and the edge of the rubber?

If you picture the gasket you made as a donut, the inside is the narrow part and the outside is the wider part. The spring holds the outside (wider part) of the gasket in place.
Look at the pictures Russ did at the beginning of the thread and make sure you've set the gasket you've made the way he's shown, in other words.

So you're saying that the gasket should sit over the spring? I know it's facing in the direction he has it.

I'm going to try tightening the nut on the shaft this morning and see if that makes a difference. I don't have it screwed down very far, just enough for the cap nut to screw on to it barely. Maybe that's the problem.
