I don't know if this will help folks or not but there is a Pink Beni kid is this group. It's from last year at this time and yes, it's sold. ;)

In the group picture, the pink beni fish stood out. The beni and skin are more translucent.

To me, pink beni fish is first the skin type then the beni type.

Here are photos of a pink beni sanke from PSKoi 2013 ikeage. From not so obvious to full blown pink beni.

The tosai fish had unusual transparent copper color beni tone.

I don't think digital photos can be trusted to represent color faithfully. Camera makers tune their gears to over exaggerate red and green in default setting. As if that was not enough, computer and monitor manufactures do the ssame to make their screens look more vivid.

I picked the right one in Marilyn's example, but doubt I could pick one and say it was pink beni with no clues.

I didn't select this one because I thought it had pink beni, but I did like the beni. Here is the closest I have to what might be pink(ish), but from TorazoDPP_035.JPG

My guess is your Torazo has pink Beni. If not, it still has very good skin.

yes, that is my problem. I can not tell when Russ has one with good skin or it is more than that. In any case, I am glad he's doing the first selections.

Man I have work to do to train my eyes to see the difference. Is this pink beni?

It has the translucence of what I am used to seeing on Pink beni so I think so.

This thread is already immensely helpful! Identifying the tells for pink beni has always been a challenge for me. Unfortunately, I've found it hard to come across before and after pictures of pink beni gosanke, so that further complicates things.

I'm assuming the tosai to the right with what almost looks like gin in Marilyn's post is the one with pink beni? If so, I could see how the third Tosai in the original post shows possible signs of pink beni. As for the copper colored beni Sanke, I probably would never have noticed from the photo. For pink beni koi, I thought the skin & shiroji nearly has a more mirror-like appearance & a reflective translucency when small if that makes sense?

After reaching out to a number of more experienced members, I ended up buying the third tosai that PinkRules pictured along with #88. I'll just have to watch it develop and see how it turns out :-??
