Phoam!!!

Postby Cynnikal » July 10th, 2017, 11:58 am

I was out of town for a week and I had a significant change in my pond. My UV light stopped working and the water temp jumped a couple degrees. I noticed I had foamy bubbles coming off the waterfall and water had a murkiness to it...DOCs!!!

I decided to build a 3" version of Ethan's Phoam Phractionator.

I was a little worried if was going to work. I built it and supplied water to it from the skimmer S/G filter since, in my mind, the concentration of DOCs is near the surface. As for media I used small hair curlers cut in half and separated. I am glad to say the system is working fine. :-BD

I forgot to add, I was going to use little plastic army soldiers for media if I couldn't find rollers...lol! You have to love the "Everything's a Dollar" stores!

Two week update: System working as advertised. Water is clear...sometimes fish look like they are floating.
